This international workshop offers an interactive and forward-looking space to reflect on the future of local democracy in Europe. Participants will:

  • Imagine the cities of the future grounded in local democracy and active citizen participation
  • Experiment with the Open Space Technology methodology and foresight techniques
  • Co-create policy recommendations inspired by a collective exercise for democratic, resilient, sustainable, and inclusive cities across Europe

We are honoured to be hosted by Pierluigi Brombo, Head of the Unit for Foresight, Studies and Policy Assessment at the EESC, who will open the event with a keynote on how foresight is applied within the EU context.

Throughout the day, ALDA facilitators will guide participants through collaborative sessions to develop actionable ideas and future scenarios for more inclusive and participatory governance across Europe.

The working language will be English, and a light lunch will be provided.
