The Policymaker Academyis a part of the Horizon 2020 Sustainable Practices of Integration (SPRING) project.
This free online workshop trains policymakers to develop more effective integration policies by giving them the tools and resources to embrace evidence-informed policymaking throughout the policy cycle.
By looking into each step of the entire policy cycle (from policy design and implementation to program evaluation and dissemination), we will identify ways to achieve better integration outcomes and make policies more cost-effective.
What will you learn during the policymaker academy?
- Policy design: Where and how do I find evidence on effective migrant integration practices and how do I assess the quality and transferability of evidence to inform the design of integration practices?
- Policy implementation: How do I engage stakeholders throughout the policy cycle and how can I increase access to and optimise the use of funding for effective integration practices?
- Policy evaluation: How do I evaluate integration practices, especially when there is limited capacity and funding available and how do I decide on the best type of policy evaluation to assess an integration practice?
- Evidence dissemination: How do I maximise the impact of the evidence about integration practices and how do I effectively share and disseminate this evidence to improve migrant integration practices?
The Policymaker Academy will include interactive sessions and engaging discussions on real-world case studies.

- The Toolkit for Evidence-Informed Policymaking in Migrant Integration, released last week by the Migration Policy Institute Europe as part of the SPRING project, offers tools and strategies to infuse evidence into each phase of the policy cycle.
- The policy brief Promoting Evidence-Informed Immigrant Integration Policymaking provides further analysis on why migrant integration has fallen behind other policy areas in embracing an evidence culture and identifies what steps policymakers could take at the EU and national level to create an environment in which evidence-informed integration policymaking can thrive.
